Some important information on how to work with the demo version of Korg Pa User Bank Manager:

- after starting select your instrument in the menue "configuration" (e.g. Pa3X or Pa800)

- make sure to have suitable midi settings:

a) If you want to use the sound-card of the PC select "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" (or a name of another card built-in in your pc) and the mapping to "GM/GS". You can leave the options "Send Bank Select" checked. Here bank number 121 resp. 120 (for the drums) are being sent which refers tothe GM2 standard. Older cards will simply ignore these messages and play the right sounds nevertheless.
On Windows 7 and Vista the midi out settings is no more contained in the system panel. In this case please download the free midi mapper tool as offered which brings back this functionality.

b) If you want to have your keyboard play the style data select the external midi out (e.g. "Roland MPU-401") and mapping "Korg", so the original program and bank numbers will be sent to your instrument.

c) If you want to use the USB interface of your keyboard (e.g. all Pa keyboards) connect a USB cable to the USB output of your keyboard and any USB port on your pc. Now a "usb audio device" will be displyed in the list of available midi outputs. Select this entry and mapping "Korg", so the original program and bank numbers will be sent.

- Saving data (to USB stick):
a) Format a usb stickin your keyboard, e.g. on Pa3X select menue "Media", then "Format". We recommend to use smaller and older sticks (2 GB) as now all current sticks will work.
b) Plug the usb stickinto any usb port on your PC, it will then be listed as exchangeable drive with the name of your keyboard (e.g. "Korg" or similar)
c) You can save a ".SET" folder with all data types inside as well as single style files (e.g. "User01.sty"). Be aware of the fact that a user file always contains an entire bank of up to 40 styles, never a single style.
d) In order to load the data into your instrument select (e.g. Pa3X) "Media", then "Load" and the storage media you want to load from, usually "USB Stick".
If you want to load the data entirely (i.e. all contained styles) the select the style file (.sty). If you have ".SET" folders then first select one and "Open" it and then click the style file.
If you want to load single styles push "Open" again and you will see a list of all styles contained. You can then select the style to be loaded and the destination position.
To initiate the actual loading of the data push the "Load" button.

- Saving data (to floppy disk, e.g. Pa80):
a) proceeding here is very simply and commonly known "for ages": Click "Save Korg User Style Bank" and write the data to disk, then load the data in the "Disk" menue of your keyboard. The exact proceeding is very similar as described above in chapte "Saving to data (USB stick)".

Limitation of the demo version:

Generally all functions are available, but you can only copy into User Bank 1.
